Is there a cost to send my child to Submerged VBS?
No, there is not a fee to attend Vacation Bible School. This is an important mission of our church to help spread the good news about Jesus Christ.
What are the dates and times?
July 10, 4-6pm Kick Off Party
July 11—June 15, 5:45pm—8:45pm Vacation Bible School
July 15, 7:30pm Celebration and Snack
July 17, 11:00am Worship Service with VBS Songs and Wrap-up
What happens at the Kick Off Party?
The Kick Off Party (Sunday, July 10th from 4—6pm) is an outdoor party with water games and activities, music, treats, and a chance to meet the VBS team at FBC Mebane. If you have not previously registered your children for VBS, this is the time!
What is the procedure for dropping off my child each night?
You will take your child up to the sanctuary and find your child’s class area among the pews. We will have signs and pew markers. Anyone with a VBS name badge can help you. Your child’s team of “First Mates” will sign them in and give them their name tag. (If you haven’t pre-registered, head to Registration first: located outside, under the covered entrance of the church.)
What is the procedure for picking up my child?
For Preschoolers and Rising Kindergarteners: pick up your child at their classroom.
Preschoolers: Room 116 (first floor)
Rising Kindergarteners: Room 110 (first floor)
If you have Preschoolers/Rising K and older children, pick up your younger children first and take them to the sanctuary with you for the Wrap-Up Rally.
What activities will my child participate in at VBS?
Your child is going to love Vacation Bible School! Children rotate through music, crafts, Bible stories, recreation, and snack. Our worship rallies are fun, loud, meaningful, and – believe it or not – organized. We aim to create a loving environment where children can feel safe, make new friends, and learn about Jesus.
What Bible stories will my child learn this week?
As kids are submerged in God’s Word, they will discover that Jesus saw people differently. He didn’t see just what was on the outside; He saw people for who they were on the inside – deep down.
Day 1 Jesus Saw Zacchaeus
Jesus saw Zacchaeus for who he really was – a man in need of salvation (Luke 19:1-10)
Day 2 Jesus Saw the Woman at the Well
Jesus saw the woman’s true worth and offered her living water (John 4:1-42)
Day 3 Jesus Saw Nichodemus
Jesus saw Nichodemus’ need for a Savior (John 3:1-21; 19:38-42)
Day 4 Jesus Saw a Blind Man
People saw the blind man’s limitations, Jesus saw a man with a purpose (John 9)
Day 5 Jesus Saw the Children
Jesus loved and accepted the children (Mark 10:13-16)
My child wants a shirt but I can’t afford it. Can I get one for my child anyway?
What happens at the Celebration on Friday night?
We recap all the lessons of the week, while the children will be sharing the songs that they have learned. After we will all go to the fellowship hall and share in fellowship and snacks.
Who should we speak with to learn more about Jesus – or about joining First Baptist Church of Mebane?
You can start with any member of the VBS team (we all have name badges and are easy to spot!). You can talk with Pastor Doreen Gibbons our Associate Pastor of Children and co-director for this week VBS. You can also talk with our Senior Pastor Bland Campbell or Pastor Judy Butler (Associate Pastor) who will be with us this week. You can also talk to Pastor David Gaddy (Associate Pastor for Youth and Young Adults).
