Weekly Updates for 5-17-19

Thursday, June 6th is our Picture Makeup Date. At this time the time slots available are 2:30 through 5:45 pm and 8:00pm & 8:15 pm.

Slots are filling up fast  so if you would like to have your picture taken for the Church Director and get a free 8×10 photo, contact the church office as soon as possible.

If you are a church staff member and have not had your picture taken now is the time to do so. There will be a church Staff page in the Directory and we need your picture.


Graduation Sunday, June 9th Graduates Recognition Sunday is June 9, 2019. The breakfast will be at 9:00 am in the church fellowship hall for graduates and family members only.

Please let the church office know if you will be attending so we will know how many people to plan for. Please fill out the Graduates form in your church bulletin and turn it in

to the church office or email the information to rbrightfbcm@gmail.com along with your graduate’s pictures for the graduates program and service. We will need pictures of your graduate

growing up and one in their cap & gown. We will need the forms and pictures in the church office no later than June 3rd. If you have any question please call the church office.




VBS 2019 Meal Sign-Up for Volunteers and Family Members will start on May 5. Please mark each night you want to purchase a meal and what you want to eat.

Meals are $3.50 per night for ages 13 and up and $3.00 per night for 12 and under (note change in price). Pay for meals by Friday June 7th.

Checks should be made payable to FBC Mebane, with “VBS nightly supper” on the “For” line. Give forms and money to Margaret Robertson.

Meals will be served Monday, June 10th, through Thursday, June 13th beginning at 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm, Monday – Highway 55 Burgers, Tuesday – Huey’s Fried Chicken, Wednesday – Subway, Thursday – Chick-Fil-A. Drinks and sides are included.



May – Church-wide Mission Action – Allied Churches – Place items in labeled container on 2nd floor in Collection Center. Collect:  Personal Items – Men & Women Regular Size Deodorants, Regular Size Shampoo, Regular Size Shaving Cream,


VBS this year takes kids ‘In The Wild’ June 10 – 14: This summer, kids will seek animals in rainforests, grasslands, frozen tundra and even the Rocky Mountains. Along the way, kids will also learn about real-life encounters people had with Jesus

and discover how biblical snapshots of the Savior provide an opportunity to respond to the Gospel. We also need some help with VBS. Please fill out the VBS insert in your church bulletin and return it to the church office.

  1. Decoration Party- June 1st from 9am-2pm (No one is expected to be there that whole time, but come during that window when you are able to help decorate if you can!!) **NOTE: We cannot decorate the fellowship hall until June 9th at 1:00

Manna Market Needs –  At this time we do not need Green Beans, Corn, Cereal, or Peanut Butter

The following are our needs to continue to thrive for our Manna Market:

Canned Potatoes, Canned Yams (15 oz size), Pork n’ Beans (16 oz size), Sweet Peas (16 oz size), Beef Stew, Bagged Pintos, Mixed fruit, Pears, Jars of Spaghetti Sauce, Instant Potatoes, Mac & Cheese, Baking Mix,

Pancake Syrup (Lite & Buttery flavors), Bagged Rice, Oatmeal, Ramen Noodles (Chicken Flavor).


Many people across our state still need help, need Jesus, need to know that God loves them – even in times of disaster! We’ve got to keep going as often as volunteers can go.

We are planning another trip to New Bern May 30th – June 1st . Please contact David Faircloth @ 919-605-4437 if you would like to volunteer your time and help those in need.

If you have signed up to go to the Mt. Zion Association Senior Dinner in Liberty on Thursday, May 30, please give Nita Parnell the $7.00 today.  The reservations check must be mailed in tomorrow.

If you have signed up to go on the train trip to Raleigh on Tues., June 18, please pay Nita Parnell $10.35 this Sunday, May 19, so she can purchase the tickets at this low price.

Wed. MAY 29,  @ 10 a.m.  Seniors will be taking a gift and card to shut-ins.  Pick up your gift and card at the church at this time.  At 11:30 a.m. Meet for lunch at the Blue Ribbon Diner. Please advise Margaret Robertson which shut-in you wish to visit.

8:00 a.m. Meet at church for trip to Raleigh on  Amtrak or 8:45 a.m.  by bus (your choice) Please sign up for Raleigh Train Trip asap.  The tickets will be  $10.35 for Seniors 65 and older and $10.50 for age 64 and under. I will be buying the tickets this week.

Women ages 25 to 45, Women looking for sisterhood, Meeting once a month (for now)

Handmade fabric bags of all sizes from the Rotifunk Mission of Hope ministry in Sierra Leone, Africa will be available for purchase in the Fellowship Hall.

Mission of Hope: Rotifunk Hospital began in 2013 following a visit to Wrightsville Beach by Bishop Yambasu from Sierra Leone. After hearing about the dire need in Rotifunk following an 11 year civil war,

the church accepted the call to re-establish and support the Rotifunk Hospital. Since then, Mission of Hope: Rotifunk Hospital has become a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization (your contributions are 100% tax deductible)
