Annual “Heat from the Heart” Parent/Child Golf Tourney at Quaker Creek Golf Club,

Money raised will be used to provide heat and coats for those in need. Shotgun starts at 8am.

I hope most of you have noticed our new tables in the Fellowship Hall! Also, we have NEW LIGHTS on the outside of the building. May I add one more? We have have a T.V. in the Fellowship Hall with more to come! These TV’s can be used for meetings as well.

Mission for June
For the month of June, our church will be collecting items for Hospice Home of Alamance County.  The following have been requested: Patient Food Pantry – Boost, Ensure, Fruit Cups, Pudding Cups, Soup Cups (Tomato, Chicken Noodle, etc.). As well as Ladies short grown – all sizes – no hospital gowns. If you will, please place items in labeled container on 2nd floor in the
Collection Center.  Thank you for all of your help!


Dear Fellow FBC Mebane Congregants:

We have been doing Manna Market for many years, first under the leadership of Ken Hunt and for the past year with me. Allied Churches recently approached us with a proposal to begin having twice a month Distributions rather once a month. Last Tuesday Thadius Carr sat down with Pastor Sammy and I and we have agreed to go to twice a month distributions on a trial basis for June and July. A the end of the trial we will make a determination on whether to continue with that or go back to once a month.

The first thing many will ask is whether it will mean an increase in what we spend with ACAC each month for food. During the trial period there will be no increase. If we decide to stay with the twice a month there may be a small increase which we will have to determine how to cover until budget time next year.

The and perhaps biggest thing, is the matter of Volunteers who we greatly depend on. We have one of the finest and most dedicated groups I could ever hope for both from our Church, Hawfields and others, this obviously will mean we need more volunteers and hopefully some of you will feel led to help out. We will also need more contributions and need more of the room we store stock in. I doubt we will have any major problems with either.

We will be moving from our old 3rd Tuesday of the month time to the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Volunteers usually arrive from 9:30-10:30 to set up. The second distribution will be on the 4th Thursday with times for clients from 4pm to 6pm. I’ll likely need volunteers from 2:30 on.

First date will be Tues. the 12th of June, second is Thurs. the 28th of June. If you can help we’d love to have you and I can assure you you will get a blessing. I have members asking me what do we need, from the Church staple goods such as: soups and vegetables, breakfast cereals, rice. Dried beans do not seem popular for some reason (shucks I was raised on ‘em myself), spaghetti sauces and noodles. Basically anything you have in your pantry. My better half tells me we have plenty of green beans and corn right now. We don’t turn away contributions. We can use more plastic bags for a while, we get behind but catch up.

Young at Heart Information
Wed., June 13 2 p.m. Games
Wed., June 20: 11:30 a.m.: Young at Hearts Cookout w/Jim Turner the Grill master with Bob Parnell, assisting. The YAH Budget will provide the hot dogs, hamburgers, chili, cheese slices, rolls and buns. SIGN UP NOW to come, enjoy and bring those little extras to make our meal complete. Hostess: Mary Klutz and Nita Parnell.
PLEASE NOTE: An earlier announcement had asked the seniors to use a side door for our Wednesday luncheons. That will not be necessary because the Sonshine Ministry has decided to have the children’s swimming pool activities in the playground fenced in area. Therefore, we will be able to use our regular doors near the kitchen for our Wednesday lunches.

VBS Meals:
VBS Volunteer and family members meals will be provided again this year. Sign-out Sheets will be in Sunday School rooms in June and on the table outside the elevator. Meals are $3.50 per night for ages 13 and up and $2.50 per night for 12 and down. All meals must be paid for in full by Friday July 6th. Checks should be made payable to First Baptist Church, with “VBS nightly supper” on the “For” line and given to Margaret Robertson. Drinks and sides are included. Meals will be served Monday, July 9th, through Thursday, July 12th beginning at 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm. Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers, Fried Chicken, Subway Ham and Turkey Subs, Chick-Fil-A Nuggets and Sandwich.

VBS Refreshment Team
The VBS Refreshment Team will be using the refrigerator and freezer beginning Monday, July 9 to Friday, July 13. We will need most of the space. If you have something in them and can remove it please do. If you need to leave it there, please put your name and a note on it to say so. Otherwise it might get thrown out during our yearly clean-up for VBS.

Ladies Short Mission Trip to NC Baptist Men’s Mission Camp in Red Springs
Ladies – dates and times for the 9th Annual Ladies Short Mission Trip to NC Baptist Men’s Mission Camp in Red Springs this summer is departing Wednesday morning at 9:30 am June 27 and returning on Thursday night, June 28 by 9:30 pm. We will be preparing the camp and making lunch bags minus the sandwiches for Deep Impact coming in July. The cost is $21 for room and board for one day, plus cost of lunch on Wednesday and supper on Thursday and share cost of gas expenses.
