Mission Education
There are several opportunities for missions: education, prayer, action, and Christian fellowship. We offer a wide range of activities for all ages learning and living missions world-wide.
Six different Women on Mission (WMU) groups meet at a variety of times, both during daytime and evening hours each month. These groups offer women a chance to educate themselves about mission work both near and far while providing a chance for fellowship and mission action in a small group. They also act as prayer warriors for the cause of missions. This is a place to share burdens and grow spiritually. Please contact the church office for details.
Baptist Men meet once each quarter for breakfast and fellowship. The brotherhood is for all men at First Baptist and gives the men the opportunity to reach out to others in the church and community in Christian love. The handy man crew is always available for repairs and storm clean up when needed. No special training is needed to be a part of the handy man crew.
The Youth spend most of their year preparing for their annual mission trip to Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, which is located deep in Appalachia. The Youth spend a week each summer conducting Vacation Bible School, leading music and Bible study, visiting in homes, and making repairs to the host church.
Children meet each Wednesday evening (September through May) to study mission work in the United States and abroad. While focusing on missionaries and their work, the children also are introduced to different cultures and peoples. Mission Friends is for boys and girls ages 3 - Kindergarten. Girls in Action (G.A.s) is for girls in the first through the sixth grades, while boys of this age participate in Royal Ambassadors (R.A.s).
All mission groups are open to new members at any time. Please join us as we explore mission opportunities near and far. Hearts Knitted Together On Sunday, February 21, 2010 the women of our church got together to celebrate WMU Day through "Hearts Knitted Together". The ladies met in our delightfully decorated fellowship hall for finger sandwiches and punch. Our WMU Director, Marian Farmer, shared with the group all that WMU has to offer and discussed the direction in which we are headed. Thanks to all who made the event a wonderful success with close to 100 attendees.
