Children's Ministry

First Baptist Church of Mebane is filled with the spirits of our children each week as they participate in the many opportunities provided by our Children's Ministry. There are a number of choices available every Sunday throughout the year and mid-week options from September through May. We believe that the more opportunities a child has to learn about Jesus Christ, the stronger their faith will be as they grow. Every child is welcome to attend any of our weekly events. Please encourage your children to come and join us.

"Jesus said, ‘Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these'." Matthew 19:14

Sunday School

Sunday school is the primary program for our children to learn Bible teaching. Classes are provided for ages birth through 5th grade in our Children's program. Because children are active learners, our teachers present age-appropriate lessons that are both fun and challenging. We offer children's Sunday School at 9:45 a.m.

This group comprised of 1st - 5th graders meets each Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Choir Room, September through May.

Mr. Mack's Friends

Children in First through Third Grades will enjoy learning more about what it means to be a Christian on Sunday nights with Mr. Mack Murdock and his wife, Marie. These two people have served many years in our children's ministry and bring a wealth of support for helping these children grow in their faith. Age appropriate Bible skills and activities are the weekly plans for this group, which meets at 5:30 p.m. September through May.

Bible Drill

Bible Drill is a great program for 4th thru 6th graders to have fun as they learn some special verses from the Bible and how to better use the Bible. Our leaders are a devoted group that has led our Bible Drill Team to the state competition year after year! This group meets weekly, September through April. If you would like to be a part of this special team then come join us each Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

Royal Ambassadors (R.A.'s)

Royal Ambassadors, also known as "R.A.'s", is a mid-week missions group for boy's 1st-6th grade. They meet every Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. to study local and foreign missions. The R.A.'s are one of the most active groups in our church throughout the church year.

Our R.A.'s participate in many fun activities led by some very committed fathers. We offer opportunities such as camping, day trips and attending sporting events. Each year a group of boys attend a weeklong R.A. Camp at Camp Caraway near Asheboro. The annual R.A. Race Day at our church always draws a crowd. The R.A.'s are involved in local missions work too!

Our boys help other members of our church in the bi-annual "Operation Inasmuch" missions day. Two Saturdays each year they go out into the community and assist with performing local missions for those who do not have the ability to do so themselves. However, the most important mission event they embrace each year is the "Heat for the Soul" Father/Son Golf Tournament. This tournament, which grows larger every year, raises money to assist people who cannot afford to pay their heating and other utility bills in the winter, and this year hopes to be able to help people in need with winter coats. This mission has grown out of the need of one person and now helps to fulfill the needs of many.

Girls In Action (G.A's)

This group of girls in grades 1-6 study about local and foreign missionaries each week on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. You are invited to come join us for an hour each week for crafts, snacks and missions study.

The G.A.'s also go on many day trips and attend camp at Camp Mundo Vista every summer. They participate in several local missions activities, including Operation Inasmuch and numerous visits to our senior adult members in assisted living facilities.

Mission Friends & Cherub Choir

Every Wednesday evening, September through May, our halls are filled with the sounds of music being provided by our Cherub Choir. These cherished young children, ages 3 - Kindergarten, sing regularly in our three worship services. This group meets from 6:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. prior to attending Mission Friends.

Mission Friends meets after Cherub Choir from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to learn about missions and missionaries. Led by devoted Christian leaders, this group is building a spiritual foundation that will last a lifetime. Children are walked from Cherub Choir to their Mission Friends location by the adult workers.

Vacation Bible School

This annual event is one of the largest children's ministry events in our community! Each year hundreds of children come to attend this exciting and fun-filled week that focuses on bringing our children to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Volunteers from all age groups participate in our V.B.S. each year to make this event so successful.

Skits, worship rallies, music, crafts, games, and Bible study make each two-hour night an experience your child will not want to miss! Wonderful and creative teachers and leaders go all out for our children during this week. The snacks are always refreshing and almost always very interesting! We start pre-registering the children for V.B.S. in June for this mid-July event.
